Awards and Honors Overview
Phalanx Honor Society seeks nominations for membership into Phalanx, the White Key Society, and Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Phalanx aims to honor a diverse set of leaders within the Rensselaer community through a peer nomination process.
Phalanx Honor Society
Phalanx Honor Society was founded in 1912 as a way to recognize Rensselaer students who distinguished themselves among their peers in areas of leadership, service, and devotion to the alma mater. Today, Phalanx is Rensselaer’s prestigious senior honor society. Its membership consists of junior, senior, and graduate students. Additionally, members of the RPI community demonstrating dedication and devotion to the Institute are inducted as honorary members to Phalanx.
White Key Society
The White Key Society was founded in 1939, to recognize early leadership and service in freshmen and sophomore students. The White Key award aims to encourage younger students to continue to strive for the ideals of leadership, service, and devotion to Rensselaer.
Who’s Who
Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges is a national publication, which recognizes a student’s scholastic and community achievements and serves as a valuable incentive for Rensselaer’s outstanding students. Rensselaer’s Who’s Who candidates will receive national and local publicity, and will be included in the current edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges.
